What we collect when you visit mathmaroc.org, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. The short answer: very little, and only to reply to you.

In short

  • We only collect personal data when you contact us, through the contact form or by email.
  • We use it for one thing: replying to you.
  • No cookies, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. We never sell your data.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time.

Who we are

This website is published by Math&Maroc, a Moroccan non-profit association founded in 2016 by math Olympiad alumni and polytechniciens. We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy.

You can reach us at any time at [email protected].

What we collect and why

We only collect personal data that you choose to send us:

  • Through the contact form: your name, your email address, the topic you pick and your message.
  • By email: if you write to us directly, we receive your email address and whatever your message contains.

We use this information only to read your request, answer it and handle any follow-up, which can include passing it to the right team within Math&Maroc.

Like every website, the server that delivers our pages receives the technical information your browser sends with each request, such as your IP address and the page requested. This is needed to deliver the page. We don’t use it to identify or profile visitors.

We never ask for sensitive information. Please don’t include any in your message.

The contact form and email delivery

Your browser sends your name, email address, subject, message, language and selected team to our server. We use Zoho ZeptoMail (opens in a new tab) to deliver your message to the team, program or event you selected on our Contact page.

Your email address is used for replies, not as the sender. Zoho ZeptoMail processes the data needed to deliver your email under its own terms and privacy policy. Consult those documents for information about storage and processing locations.

The form includes a hidden field that people never see. Spam bots tend to fill in every field, so if this one is filled in, the message isn’t sent.

To write without using the form, choose the relevant address from our email directory.

What we don’t do

  • No cookies: this site doesn’t set any.
  • No analytics or audience measurement.
  • No advertising and no tracking pixels.
  • No social media widgets: our social links are plain links.
  • No accounts or logins.
  • No selling or renting of personal data, and no sharing it for marketing.

Our fonts are served from our own site, so loading a page doesn’t contact Google Fonts or any other font service.

Local storage

When you switch between light and dark mode, your browser remembers your choice in its local storage, under the key “theme”. The value is simply “light”, “dark” or “system”.

It stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can clear it at any time from your browser settings.

Embedded content (YouTube)

On the Orientation page, our video playlists start as still images. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press “Play playlist”.

The player then loads from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. From that moment, YouTube (Google) receives data such as your IP address and may use cookies or similar technologies. Google’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab) applies.

How long we keep your data

We keep your message and our reply only as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up.

You can ask us to delete them sooner by writing to [email protected].

Your rights

Under Moroccan Law No. 09-08 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data, you have the right to:

  • access the data we hold about you;
  • have it corrected or deleted;
  • object to its processing, for legitimate reasons.

Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, for example if you live in the EU or EEA, you also have the right to erasure, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, write to [email protected]. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on the request.

If you think we haven’t handled your data properly, you can contact the CNDP (Commission Nationale de contrôle de la protection des Données à caractère Personnel), Morocco’s data protection authority, at www.cndp.ma (opens in a new tab).

Security

Our pages and the contact form use encrypted HTTPS connections. The best protection is collecting as little as possible, so we only ask for what we need to reply to you.

No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, so please don’t send passwords or other sensitive information through the form.

Children and students

Many of our visitors are students, and some are minors. You don’t need an account to use this site, and we only receive what you choose to send.

If you’re a minor, we encourage you to contact us with a parent’s or guardian’s help. Whatever you send us, we only use it to reply. A parent or guardian can ask us to access or delete a minor’s data by writing to [email protected].

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site changes, for example if we add a new service. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.

If a change affects how we use your data, we’ll say so clearly on this page. See also our legal notice.
